Take this rare opportunity while on your vacation in exotic Costa Rica, the land of year-round warm tropical white water galore, to learn one of the fastest growing sports in the world - White Water Kayaking! Learn the basic and intermediate techniques of White Water Kayaking in breath-taking, tropical rain forest scenery, and without having to learn the Eskimo Roll. We’ll skip the arduous Eskimo roll and go right to the fun of kayaking class 1 to 3 rapids on your first day! Learn paddle strokes, braces, wet exits, river features, reading white water rapids, about the equipment, and how to run rapids in your own kayak, as well as; all about the amazing tropical nature of the beautiful Sarapiqui Rainforest River!!!
First, we’ll spend 1 hour learning and practicing the basics of White Water Kayaking on flat water, and then, when you’re ready, we’ll descend 8 kilometers of class 1 and 2 white water (with one class 3 rapid to challenge as well). All this while passing through the spectacular rainforest of the Sarapiqui River! We’ll stop in the Bijaual Rainforest Reserve to eat some locally grown fruits, and observe the unique bio diversity all around us in a place that only kayakers can enjoy! Our instruction is a USA based system of instruction, and truly unique here in Costa Rica. We’ll be using state of the art, one person, inflatable kayaks with Knee Straps** which are very stable , but also very agile and provide the hi-performance that you need to punch holes, catch eddys, and navigate all the challenging rapids of the day. This class / tour combination is suitable for the whole family. Kids 14 yrs and up can paddle their own one person kayak. Kids 8-13yrs (or an adult who may be intimidated by this new experience) can go with our instructor in a double (tandem kayak). All in all, the experience takes 3.5 hrs. Be ready to get wet! We have long-sleeved “paddle jackets” for cooler days. So, try something totally different. Learn something new, and exciting with your family and friends while visiting our beautiful country. We’ll see you on the water!
